What is the Global Client Group?  

The Global Client Group (GCG) handles Distribution, Consultant Relations, Relationship Management, Product Development, Client Servicing, and Learning & Development. Their goal is to deliver a seamless ‘One Nuveen’ experience to clients worldwide. GCG focuses on building new relationships within the Institutional and Wealth channels while strengthening ties with existing clients. Nuveen targets the largest sources of investment capital globally. The team is international, with a presence in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.

The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the distribution team’s territory management and sales strategy overview.
  • Be involved in product pitches and client review calls; identify and compile necessary follow-up items.
  • Support day-to-day client coverage activities, including preparing meeting materials and assisting with client communications.
  • Assist in translating market commentaries and internal materials between English and Japanese.

What You’ll Get throughout the Internship:  

  • A 6-8 week summer program, where you will participate in a robust training curriculum, attend company functions, including speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that will offer the opportunity for career growth and personal development.
  • Ability to gain hands on experience as well as getting an overall feel for the firm/ industry by attending internal business meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, contributing to projects, and working closely with cross-functional groups.
  • Exposure to Senior Business Leaders globally across Nuveen and TIAA.

What we are looking for:

  • Academic BackgroundUndergraduate or graduate student with a strong academic record. 
  • Client Relationship Management: Interest in building a career in a client-facing role, with some experience in teamwork, extracurricular activities, or part-time work. 
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese. 
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Critical Thinking: Interest in financial markets and ability to understand basic business concepts. 
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  
  • Initiative and Ownership: Willingness to take initiative and learn proactively. 
  • Languages: Fluency in English & Japanese is required.
