The TIAA Retirement Solutions (Licensed) Rotational Associate Program is a full-time, two-year early-career experience for individuals graduating in 2027. The strategically aligned assignments focus on professional development, building cross functional proficiency in a client-facing, fast paced environment full of growth opportunities. After obtaining licensing, associates can expect to complete three rotational assignments within key areas of our client facing organizations.

The program combines structured onboarding, cohort-based learning, formal training, mentorship, executive exposure, networking, and on-the-job development. Each rotation includes defined objectives, substantive deliverables, regular feedback, and opportunities to directly impact our clients.

Throughout the program, associates participate in a structured development curriculum featuring:

  • Four rotational assignments
  • Licensing support (Series 7, 66, Life & Health)
  • Technical, business, and leadership training
  • Executive speaker series and educational workshops
  • Mentorship and career coaching
  • Cohort-based learning and networking experiences
  • Rotation-end feedback, presentations, and development planning

After the two-year program, associates will be considered for placement into a full-time role based on demonstrated performance, skills, career interests, and business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Throughout your time as a Retirement Solutions Rotational Associate, you will tune your communications from clients to internal stakeholders, gain industry, client and product knowledge, and build a network of peers, managers and leaders across TIAA. The responsibilities listed below will increase in scope and independence as associates progress through the program.

  • Build deep understanding of the financial services industry, the regulatory landscape, and TIAA's competitive position
  • Sharpen your communication and relationship-building skills in real work settings
  • Shadow tenured professionals across client-facing roles to observe excellence in motion
  • Complete role-specific and program-specific training that prepares you for a variety of client-facing responsibilities
  • Executes project activities by understanding objectives, meeting timelines and communicating results
  • Assists in preparing information and research materials, including Powerpoint presentations
  • Researches and gathers documentation as directed by colleagues.
  • Attends required trainings
  • Utilizes academic knowledge, skills and experience to apply tactics and strategies to solve real business challenges. Earn all required licenses and registrations (Series 7,63,65, and 66, Life and Health Insurance License (multiple issuers, resident state)) within 120 days

  • Ability to organize multiple priorities, meet deadlines and take ownership of commitments
  • Possess an adaptive mindset, with a willingness to learn, collaborate, and build productive relationships
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better

The rotational program consists of four individual rotations, across the two years following an intentional format to shape a progressive learning experience.


Rotation 1: Licensing

Your journey starts with foundation-building. Within 120 days, you'll obtain your Series 7, Series 66, and applicable life and health insurance licenses—the credentials that unlock every client-facing opportunity ahead.


Rotations 2 - 4: Where Your Path Takes Shape

This is where the program comes alive. You'll rotate through licensed organizations across TIAA's business, gaining hands-on skills and real client exposure that will define your career trajectory.


Rotations May Include:

  • National Call Center (NCC) – delivers foundational training on TIAA’s products and services, by providing individual plan participant information regarding their options for retirement plans, after tax investments, insurance products, income options, investment choices and more general retirement and financial education 
  • Institutional Support Team (IST) – provides primary Inbound/Outbound Call Center support to Institutional Plan Sponsors that use the Administrator Telephone Center (ATC) service line to respond to a variety of plan and administrative inquiries
  • Client Services Manager II (CSMII) – responsible for increasing consistency and quality of TIAA service as it relates to administrative efficiency, operational transactions, and products especially to those client administrators with daily responsibility for the retirement benefits program
  • Transition Manager I (TMI) – responsible for the comprehensive coordination of all platform transition services for retirement plan clients
  • Data Lead I (DLI) – supports internal stakeholders and partners for platform updates and installation of services for retirement plan clients
  • Communication Consultant I (CCI) – responsible for increasing consistency and quality of TIAA service as it relates to the administrative efficiency, operational transactions, and products especially to those client administrators with daily responsibility for the retirement benefits program
  • The Financial Consultant I (FCI) – provides retirement education and advice to the organization's clients and prospects. The IFC helps individuals navigate and, where appropriate, provide advice related to qualified and non-qualified product and investment needs. The typical consultant spends the majority of their time fielding inbound calls and the remainder of their time on follow up to clients and prospects. The role is responsible for asset growth, applicable plan advice, referrals, voice of the client surveys and other goals ensuring a good client experience
  • The Retirement Income Consultant (RIC) – educates and helps individuals navigate TIAA’s retirement income options. The RIC provides advice related to income replacement strategies in retirement as well as qualified and non-qualified product and investment needs.

Completing your SIE exam before the program begins is not just a requirement that helps prepare you—it pays you. The earlier you complete it, the bigger your sign-on bonus:

  • $6,500 — SIE completed by March 1st
  • $6,000 — SIE completed by April 1st
  • $5,500 — SIE completed by May 1st
  • $5,000 — SIE completed by June 1st

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
