Overview of the Role:

The Senior Associate will join Nuveen’s German Housing and Alternatives (HAST) team based in Frankfurt to help grow the German HAST platform. Reporting to the German Head of Investment HAST, main responsibilities will involve working on all aspects of the investment process as well as handling the operational asset management of the German HAST property portfolios managed by Nuveen Real Estate.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Investment:
    • Proactively sourcing investment opportunities and participating in the origination process.
    • Managing the Due Diligence process of potential acquisitions.
    • Assisting and/or leading the underwriting of potential acquisitions.
    • Deal structuring.
    • Negotiation.
    • Preparation of quarterly investment reporting.
    • Presentation to Board and Investment committee.
  • Asset Management:
    • Driving performance and the operating management of the managed assets.
    • Implementing agreed asset management initiatives, capex programmes, lease re-gears and renewals.
    • Preparing and completing annual business plans.
    • Coordinating and supporting research in all areas of real estate, including background research, corporate relationships and the valuation and recommendation of the properties.
    • Instructing, coordinating and supervising external professional teams (incl. property managers, asset managers, leasing agents, communication agencies, lawyers, project managers, etc.).
    • Preparing periodic reporting to investors, analysis and explanation of variances.
    • Leading in data collection of quarterly/annual property valuation process and reviewing them.
    • Collecting and ensuring the reliability of data that relate to properties under management.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Relevant professional qualification(s).
  • Meaningful experience in real estate investment and/or asset management. Experience in the housing sector highly desirable.
  • Financial, analytical, and modelling skills (experienced user of Excel).
  • Knowledge and experience of local law concerning lease agreements, legal real estate environment and notions in construction/urbanism. Knowledge and experience of the KfW programme(s) desirable.
  • Understanding of tenant mix, performance, and operations.
  • Demonstrable interest in ESG investing in Real Estate and its application within asset management.
  • Experience of Argus AE software desirable.
