Financial Crimes Investigator

The Fraud Operations Analyst II at TIAA will support the detection, investigation, and mitigation of financial crimes and fraud across customer financial accounts. The position demands investigative rigor, regulatory knowledge, client interaction skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.



Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Monitor and investigate customer financial accounts for suspicious or fraudulent activity.

  • Conduct comprehensive internal and external investigations involving; suspected fraud including but not limited to: Account Takeover, New Account Fraud, Elder/ Vulnerable Adult Financial Exploitation, Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, suspected OFAC violations, and other “Unusual Behavior or Activity

  • Escalate and document suspicious activity that poses risk to the institution or clients.

  • Place outbound calls to validate fraud alerts; receive and respond to inbound fraud-related calls from clients and associates. Research customer claims and gather evidence to support investigative findings.

  • Provide detailed reports and recommended actions to leadership. Ensure compliance with BSA/AML, OFAC, and other regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with, internal business partners, law enforcement, financial institutions, and vendors to validate fraud-related data.

  • Participate in user acceptance testing and internal audits related to fraud and financial crime prevention.

  • Deliver feedback to help refine detection systems and case workflows.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Work Experience

  • 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred

FINRA Registrations

  • SRC Indicator: NRF

Physical Requirements
