As an Endowment Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for the preparation of quarterly reporting, investment committee presentations, and other reports and materials for our clients. In addition, you will collaborate with Senior Relationship Managers on the relationship management of an assigned group of endowment clients. You will also work closely with Portfolio Managers and other colleagues in the preparation of reports and materials. You will also have the opportunity to participate in new business development and new client transitions. Overnight travel will be required on a periodic basis.
  • Participate in new business activity; contribute to the development of RFP responses and sales presentations, including customized service proposals
  • Participate in new client transitions, developing transition plans and other materials as needed
  • Work in collaboration with the Client Portfolio Manager to develop investment policy statements and asset allocation proposals for any assigned clients
  • Develop strong, partner-like relationships with assigned clients, including investment committee chairs and other board members as well as senior finance and accounting staff; assess client satisfaction and oversee the firm’s response to service requests and concerns
  • Support the work of other Relationship Managers in responding to client service requests
  • Prepare quarterly investment reports, monthly investment updates, investment exhibits, and investment committee materials for all endowment relationships in close coordination with other Relationship Managers, the Chief Investment Officer, and Client Portfolio Managers
  • Work in close partnership with colleagues in the development and delivery of quarterly investment reports and client investment committee materials; participate in investment committee and other client meetings for assigned clients; oversee the response to client requests for information to support clients’ annual audits, fee analyses, preparation of donor endowment reports, and ad hoc questions and requests; ensure delivery of ADV and other regulatory information
  • Work with the Investment team, operations and accounting areas to coordinate the response to client requests for information
  • Develop exhibits and other materials as needed for use with clients; coordinate client invitations to webinars and other events
  • Consult with clients on endowment management best practices; coordinate the delivery of thought leadership materials and invitations to webinars and other events
  • Manage and maintain Client Relationship Management system in coordination with colleagues

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, CFA or on track towards a CFA preferred
  • Two or more years of experience preparing client or investment related materials at a financial services firm (please note that FINRA designations (e.g. Series 7, 63, etc.) are not required for this role and will not be sponsored by TIAA)
  • Prior experience in or a strong desire to work in a client facing position preferred

  • Excellent relationship management skills needed to work effectively with a diverse group of clients, including board members and senior staff, and to lead a cross-functional service delivery team
  • Ability to articulate to external investors and internal colleagues complex investment and risk management concepts, ideas, and processes with credibility and maturity
  • Knowledge of and ability to consult on endowment management best practices
  • Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of investment performance calculations
  • A commitment to a culture of excellence and high quality client service
  • Strong organizational skills with a commitment to follow-up
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and oral) and a diplomatic interpersonal manner
