POSITION SUMMARY:
TIAA’s Production Services & Architecture (PS&A) team is responsible for all architecture, engineering and infrastructure operations of our core technology assets as part of a streamlined, strategic approach that ensures low cost, high quality delivery from initial architectural decisions through engineering to long-term operational support.The PS&A team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.
As a Senior Lead Engineering Manager for Cloud you will drive the development of a formalized engineering practice across infrastructure. Working with cross-domain teams you will develop standards, designs and roadmaps that are in line with business objectives and controls. You will also serve as the engineering interface to architecture and represent infrastructure in all governance forums. Your role will drive engineering standards and establish processes to introduce new technologies. Your role will manage across a federated team of embedded technical subject matter experts to drive the engineering practice across the enterprise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Define the process for introducing new technology products, platforms, and paradigms into the firm. Examples of major introductions include: containers, public cloud, converged infrastructure, automation frameworks, configuration management frameworks
  • Drive the development of a formalized engineering process to take a new product/platform from a successful evaluation to a successful multi-year lifecycle operating state. This needs to include the process design, design and operational artifacts, hand-overs to stakeholder teams, vendor agreements, security reviews etc. Drive a center of excellence for engineering to provide a centralized way of managing roadmaps, design documents, standards assessments, engineering reviews across all technical domains including: cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), compute, storage, network, end user computing, application architecture, cyber security, and technology operations
  • Provide leadership in all technology and architecture governance processes on behalf of the engineering team and ensure that the full end-to-end solution is represented and properly assessed
  • Lead an effort to design/manage cloud based services and develop new approaches to certify public cloud services for firm wide consumption

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a technology vision, translate the vision into a viable strategy and plan and the ability to execute against that plan to deliver business value
  • Ten or more years of senior level cross-functional leadership roles in technology related field with a focus on technology engineering, strategy, and architecture
  • Proven track record of responsibility for building, coaching and managing highly technical teams
  • Deep technical expertise across a number technical domains including: cloud (private/public, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), data architecture, application architecture, storage, compute, network, security
  • Experience helping to lead enterprise transformation to a cloud model, on and off-premise
  • Proven track record in leading engineering functions and successfully partnering with all stakeholder functions, including: operations, architecture, information security, application development, business, compliance
  • Experience in developing vendor management operating model and proven track record in driving vendor roadmaps and service levels to meet business requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline and/or MBA preferred
  • Proven track record building a cloud team with full P&L ownership; experience taking on/off-premises solutions to a cloud model preferred
