POSITION SUMMARY:

 

TIAA has an opportunity for a Sr. Technical Lead Engineer that will provide support to our critical channels such as Unified Desktop and Web (MyTIAA). This position can be located in our Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Broomfield, CO, Dallas, TX or Raleigh/Durham, NC.

 

This role will have the opportunity to define and execute the delivery strategy for applications and technology consuming Middleware technologies and services. Leveraging your background in Java based application hosting technologies such as WebLogic, TomCat, Jboss, Websphere and HTTP Webserver platforms such as Apache and Nginx you will partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering & Host Services, Infrastructure Automation & Development and technology leadership to create and maintain an overall enterprise Middleware integration strategy and future state blueprint that aligns with TIAA’s technology roadmap and business plans. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Work directly with engineering teams on emerging application runtime technologies to define integration and delivery strategies through the SDLC resulting in a stable and secure environment
  • Identify automation technology opportunities to rapidly deliver environments while maintaining configuration management across the enterprise
  • Collaborate on Middleware Engineering strategic roadmaps and execute on technology needs that integrate with the overall enterprise’s technology strategy
  • Leverage and promote the Middleware framework to build common reusable components for core applications
  • Provide guidance for various development teams to ensure middleware solutions meet long-term objectives and promotes a reusable service orientation
  • Review, engineer and integrate the delivery automation of monitoring and administration technologies that proactively alert on application system performance and identify/resolve issues before they become service-impacting events
  • Collaborate and provide guidance to application development teams and infrastructure teams to ensure they are kept current on technology developments, best practices, and new initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong partnership with Application Development teams to ensure alignment to TIAA’s application design strategies needed to meet key business requirements 

 


QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Required:
  • Ten or more years of hands-on technology experience
  • Five or more years of experience leading a team of engineers
  • Hands-on experience with application hosting technologies (such as WebLogic, Tomcat, Websphere, Jboss; Apache, NGinX), DevOps platforms (such as Puppet, Docker, Ansible), and CI/CD tools (such as Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory)
 Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems
  • Ability to develop Infrastructure as code
  • Automation Testing concepts: Automated Performance and Regression/Functional Testing
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication: Ability to verbally communicate complex ideas into simple, easy to understand concepts through conversations, presentations, and discussions
  • Deep knowledge of Application Runtime
  • Developer skills in one or more of the following – J2EE Java Script (jQuery, Nodejs)/CSS/HTML, Single Page Applications (AngularJS, React), Responsive Design
  • Application Design skills -  Microservices, REST, JVM (Java - Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate)
