POSITION SUMMARY:

 

TIAA has an opportunity for a Data Scientist for their Converged Technology Operations Center in their Charlotte, NC or Broomfield, CO office. This position will have the opportunity to set the vision and lead the strategy for the AI Operations and Machine Learning team. This role will provide early detection of potential issues, reduce mean time to restore and implement intelligent automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce/prevent incidents before they occur.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  • Define and drive AI and Machine Learning strategy and road map planning, working across Tech Operations, Business Operations and development teams and influence the direction of external teams
    • 20% - Data Extraction: using SQL, or other tools the candidate will extract the required information from Splunk and data aggregation systems. Other data sources and extraction queries will also be necessary. Complete understanding of data and sources and proactive troubleshooting skills will be essential to this portion of the job requirements as data quality is paramount to successful delivery
    • 50% - Data analysis, interpretation and presentation
    • 10% - Report Compilation: using either Excel, Tableau or similar programs, the candidate will be required to compile the data into meaningful tables and formats
    • 10% - Requirements Gathering: the candidate will be required to meet with various internal clients and compile enough information to extract and report on the information desired
    • 10% - Meetings: the candidate will facilitate meetings as well as attend meetings when necessary to provide support on the data in question 
  • Design and build machine learning systems that process and classify data to drive operational efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement by working to automate tasks, responses and remediation of events
  • Creates and sustains an environment of ingenuity and creativity and challenges the status quo to encourage innovation


Qualifications:
Required:
  • Two years’ experience utilizing Machine Learning techniques to solve real-world problems; experience developing data pipelines and performing evaluations
  • Two years’ experience with programming skills in at least two of the following: Python, R, Scala, Spark or Java
  • Two years’ experience with probability and statistics
  • Two years’ experience with Big Data and Machine Learning in a cloud environment
  • Two years’ experience with cloud-based architectures such as public, private and or hybrid
  • Two years’ experience building Machine learning pipeline
  • Two years’ experience working with application technologies such as microservices or containers
  • Possess a solid foundation of automation and orchestration across systems, processes and workflows
  • Possess an understanding of APIs’ and other modern-stack application technologies
  • One year demonstrated experience with the ability to audit and adjust machine outcomes
  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot, and event/alarm correlation skills using event management and APM solutions; ability to apply techniques across various server, application, and network technologies
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical findings to all levels of stakeholders 
Preferred:
  • Experience with Hadoop and/or distributed systems
  • Significant experience with Splunk ITSI or other event management solutions
  • Possess an AWS Foundational Certification
  • Possess AWS Certified Machine Learning
  • Experience with Microsoft Server technologies such as Server 2012 and OS Administration
  • Experience with Linux or other “nix” platforms administration
