POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The primary purpose and function of this job is to provide asset and/or liability risk modeling to support the quantitative assessment of risks to the firm as part of ERM’s Risk Modeling Center of Excellence.  An important aspect of the job will be to liaise with colleagues across the firm to gain familiarity with their risk modeling needs and assessing suitability of their models for use by Risk Management, as well as to collaborate closely with Model Risk Management on risk model reviews.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  
• Develop analytic models to support the Asset Liability Committee within TIAA’s risk reporting framework
• Evaluate, adjust to address TIAA-specific needs, or provide independent assessment of third party risk models
• Maintain models including ensuring consistency with TIAA’s Model Risk Management policy
• Liaise regularly with colleagues in the Investment, Risk and Actuarial areas, sharing Risk Management methods and gaining familiarity with their approach and assessing suitability for use by Risk Management 
 
AREA OF IMPACT:
 
• Primarily impacts the model development and maintenance efforts of the ERM Risk Modeling Center of Excellence and, indirectly, other groups within ERM as well as senior management relying upon the accuracy and reliability of quantitative risk reporting. 
QUALIFICATIONS:

 
REQUIRED:
 
- Master's Degree - Quantitative or Actuarial Science
 
- 5 - 10 Years of experience - Quantitative researcher/ programmer or asset and/ or liability models and customer behavior
 
PREFERRED:
 
- 10+ Years - Modeling experience in an insurance company or asset management or both is preferred
 
 
Skills and Abilities:
 
Extensive computer programming experience in C, C++ as well as Excel/VBA, R, Matlab, Mathematica, and SQL.
Strong project management and communication skills.
