Company Overview
As a part of TIAA’s Retail & Institutional Financial Services business, TIAA Bank, a division of TIAA, FSB, provides full-service, nationwide banking and lending services to consumer, commercial and institutional clients through a variety of channels, including online, its Florida-based financial centers and at other business offices throughout the country.

Primary Characteristics
The Security Architect works with minimal supervision to develop architecture solutions, standards, best practices and the governance process. This includes designing security architecture for application development projects, infrastructure solutions projects, as well as evaluating and recommending security software and solutions.

Essential Functions
  • Publishes and presents appropriate security architecture principles and standards, position papers, best practices, patterns and frameworks
  • Analyzes existing systems, processes and architectures to make recommendations for security improvement
  • Presents secure system architecture and solutions to technical and business audiences including executive management
  • Partners with development teams in secure design patterns, secure coding standards and security best practices
  • Researches and develops new security technologies, evaluate tools, and implement working prototypes to improve current processes and build new capabilities
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
  • Must have participated in developing the security technology architecture for multiple projects
  • Proven ability to share knowledge, resolve conflict and create consensus
  • Strong knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related application and infrastructure technologies and practices
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial work environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsiveness to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Strong ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities

Training and Experience
  • BS in technology-related or information security-related curriculum or a minimum of 8 years of experience leading security architecture for networking, applications, and systems in a mission critical environment required
  • Experience implementing security best practices and framework required
  • Understanding of advanced security protocols and standards, including a demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis and producing information security metrics preferred
  • Knowledge of information security frameworks and industry regulations (NIST, ISO, CoBIT, PCI, SOX)
  • Knowledge of US banking security regulations (OCC / FFEIC, GLBA) required
  • Security certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, CCSP)
